Falling Cubes
Falling Cubes is a free online block puzzle. Coloured shapes drop into a well ten columns wide and twenty rows deep, and you slide and turn each one so it settles without leaving a hole underneath. Fill a horizontal row and it clears away; the longer you last, the faster the pieces fall.
How to Play Falling Cubes
- Move: The left and right arrow keys, or the on-screen arrows on a phone, slide the falling shape across the well.
- Rotate: The up arrow, or the rotate button on a touch screen, turns the piece a quarter turn to match the gap you are aiming for.
- Drop faster: Hold the down arrow once you know where the piece belongs and it falls straight to the floor.
- Clear a line: Fill an entire horizontal row and it disappears; leave gaps and the stack creeps towards the top.
Features of Falling Cubes
- Seven shapes: Bars, squares, L, S and T pieces turn up in different proportions, so no two stacks build the same way.
- NEXT preview: The shape waiting in the queue is shown beside the board, so you can keep the right hole open for it.
- Levels that speed up: Every ten cleared lines raises the level and shortens the time each piece takes to fall.
- Scoring that rewards patience: One line pays 40 points, two at once 100, three 300, four in a single drop 1200.
- Keyboard and touch: Arrow keys on desktop, move and rotate buttons on mobile, with a how-to-play screen for both.
- Extras: Pause, full screen, a sound toggle, and a game over screen showing your level, lines and total score.
